5 Marketing Strategies to Start Off the New Year

As we are coming into the new year many of us running a business are asking ourselves, did we meet all of our marketing goals in 2017? Now is the time to reflect on this past years efforts and determine any new strategies for 2018. Here is a list of 5 strategies to help you market your business better in the new year.

1: Refresh your marketing strategies in December
There is no reason to wait until January to start developing your marketing strategy for the new year. Try to take some time and reflect on the past year and efforts to see what worked and what could be revised. With that information hit the ground running to start implementing before your competition does. There are various things in which you can reflect on; some of which include:
- Did you have the right target market?
- Are there any services that you would like to add or omit?
- How are you doing? And where do you want to go?

There are several elements to think about for marketing in the new year. It will be helpful to start thinking about this now before January hits.

2: Revitalize your content strategy
Content is everything. You have heard this statement time and time again. Many of us say we will get to it, yet most of us do not find nearly enough time to make this a reality but now is the time! Quality content is crucial to dominate SEO rankings and to maintain engagement with your customers. Start off by thinking about a few topics that you would like to include in your content. This will help to give you a good starting point with some direction behind it.

3: Focus on Inbound Marketing
As the world becomes more digital, we want to switch gears from focusing on outbound marketing such as print materials or radio. In most cases, today inbound marketing generates more leads than outbound efforts. Instead of focusing on outbound marketing, start focusing more on your content by developing a quality blog, digital newsletters, or other types of content relevant to your business.

4: Adjust your social media strategy
Social media is a great way to get your name out to consumers while also humanizing your business. It is no secret that Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and Google + are major players in the social media arena. This is a great place to get a message out to your customers and increase engagement for your brand. It is important to assess which platforms would be most beneficial for your business. Once you have decided which platforms best fit within your branding strategy, now it is time to fine tune those various platforms. If you have decided on a platform, however, don't think that it is the right one for you, don't be afraid to pull the plug on that platform and increase attention more towards the ones you think are helping the most to promote your business.

5: Revamp the homepage on your website
You may have put in quite a bit of time, money, and effort to make the homepage of your website breathtaking. Although much effort has been put into the homepage already, now is the time to give your homepage a much-needed face lift once you have refreshed your marketing strategy. Even if you haven’t completely changed up your marketing strategy, there may be some changes you’ve neglected to make like updating any new services or product offerings. Your website is an incredibly important place to keep current information regarding your business.
